Workpod FAQs – Indoor & Outdoor Office Pod Questions Answered
General Overview
Why choose a Workpod office pod?
Clear pricing: Know what you're getting with clear pricing up front with delivery to metro locations included for Sydney, Melbourne, & Brisbane. Nominal delivery fee for regional areas.
Custom options: Within standard dimensions, make a Workpod your own. Choose from a selection of materials & colours for trim, carpet, & furniture. Want extra charge stations, mount a display, move a panel, change a door, or even adjust dimensions? Just ask.
Flatpack delivery: Our workpods are delivered as flatpacks, making them easy to transport and deliver for assembly onsite in tighter spaces inside and out.
Do I need a council permit for a Workpod?
For indoor pods: We are not aware of any permits required for indoor office pods, domestically or commercially.
For outdoor pods: While we are not generally aware of permits being required, outdoor Workpods are classified under either Class10a Non-habitable structure (e.g. shed or storage space) or Class 1A Ancillary accommodation.
Before starting, you should check whether or not there are any restrictions on building on your site and if you will need a permit from council.
You will also need to determine the setbacks from your property lines. You can do this yourself by checking your council and state guidelines. Make sure you're aware of the setbacks, size of outbuilding and type of occupancy allowed.
What does flatpack delivery mean for a Workpod?
If you're familiar with IKEA, than you know what a flatpack product is (though we like to think our assembly instructions are easier to follow).
All our Workpods are designed, pre-fabricated, and delivered ready to be assembled with guiding instructions.
You should be able to assemble most of our indoor Workpods within 2-4 hours with the help of 2-3 people.
Assembly for our outdoor Workpods may be completed by your builder in as little as 1-2 days.
How can I get my Workpod assembled?
For our indoor Workpods, you can assemble yourself with the help of the assembly guide, drill, leveller, and 2-3 people (no skills required). In most metro locations we can also arrange an assembly service for you.
For our outdoor Workpods, you may choose to engage a local builder / carpenter to assemble for you.
What foundations or base do I need for a Workpod?
For indoor Workpods, no special foundations, other than a flat surface, are needed.
For outdoor Workpods, a level and firm surface is required. For level ground, packed earth, gravel, bluestone, or even a concrete slab may be suitable. For uneven or sloping ground, piers should be considered.
What heating and cooling options are available for Workpods?
Both our internal and external pods come with ventilation fans, toughened glass, and insulated panels as standard, so in addition to sound acoustics, temperature transfer (in or out) is restricted and managed.
Upgrades to double glazed glass panels are also available.
For outdoor Workpods, air-conditioning (heat / cool) units may be added following installation. Consult your local air-conditioning provider to find the unit most suitable for your needs.
If you are considering adding air-conditioning or similar it is a good idea to engage an electrician.
How do I connect power to my Workpod?
All our Workpods come ready to connect to power, outdoor pods come with all weather connectors.
For outdoor Workpods, we can also provide an electrical board at additional cost
If you are considering adding air-conditioning or similar it is a good idea to engage an electrician.
